Rosewood Calistoga: What to Know Before You Book
Rosewood Calistoga is now bookable for stays beginning April 15, 2027. The resort will pair a secluded, 118-acre forested ridgeline with downtown Calistoga just beyond the estate. That combination, plus Asaya wellness and only 96 hotel rooms, makes this one of Napa Valley's most interesting new luxury openings.
The honest caveat is that this is a preview, not a review. The hotel is not open, there are no guest reports, and service, dining and room-location patterns are still untested. I would book the opening period only with terms that match your tolerance for a date change or soft-opening adjustment.
Can you book Rosewood Calistoga now?
Yes. The first available arrival is April 15, 2027. When checked October 30, 2026, the entry Estate Room started at approximately $2,500 per night before taxes and fees.
Rate note: This is a dated opening-rate snapshot, not a permanent starting price. I will recheck the live rate, minimum stay and cancellation terms for your exact dates.

A good fit if...
- You want hillside privacy without giving up downtown Calistoga.
- Asaya, mineral-water wellness and resort time matter as much as wine tasting.
- You value a terrace and residential design over a conventional hotel layout.
- You need family, suite, lodge or multigenerational options.
Wait or choose elsewhere if...
- You need proven service and recent guest reviews.
- Your milestone trip cannot tolerate an opening-date change.
- You want an established adults-oriented retreat.
- A starting rate near the top of Napa's market makes the stay uncomfortable.
Rooms and what I would book
The accommodations follow the ridgeline across separate buildings. I would choose for outlook, terrace and location within the estate, not only the category name.
Estate Room
Approximately 500 square feet with one king or two double beds, a soaking tub, rainfall shower and private terrace with dining table and fire pit. This is the rational base if your days will be spent around Napa Valley.
Forest or Vineyard View Room
Forest View trades the iconic Napa outlook for a quieter woodland frame. Vineyard View is the milestone-trip upgrade I would compare first, with the same terrace, dining table and fire pit facing the vines.
Suites
The approximately 1,000-square-foot Forest View, Hillside Vineyard and Skyline Vineyard suites are better for longer stays or when the room itself is part of the occasion.
Palisades and Vintners Lodges
These approximately 1,500-square-foot lodges add a living room, oversized fireplace, full kitchen, dining area, outdoor shower garden and large terrace. Vintners is the view-forward choice; Palisades frames the volcanic cliffs.
Bookable does not mean proven
Rosewood Calistoga is accepting reservations, but the resort has not welcomed guests. There is no reliable evidence yet about service consistency, sound between rooms, building-to-building walking time, restaurant execution or which locations feel most private.
For the first weeks, I would avoid nonrefundable flights and inflexible winery plans. If the trip is a once-in-a-lifetime celebration and certainty matters more than being first, I would choose an established Napa resort or wait for early operating feedback.
Why Asaya changes the pitch
Rosewood Calistoga will use Asaya, Rosewood's integrative wellness concept. The planned spa sits at the estate's highest point, with six treatment rooms around an outdoor garden, hydrotherapy tied to Calistoga's mineral-water heritage, guided rituals and a fitness center.
That makes the resort more than a base for winery appointments. I would build at least one unscheduled half day around the spa, pool and estate, then confirm which hydrotherapy and wellness experiences are operating for your dates.
Two pools
Plans call for one adults-only pool and a separate family pool. That separation should help couples and parents share the resort without asking one pool atmosphere to serve everyone.
Rosewood Explorers
A Rosewood Explorers children's club is planned. On paper, the family pool, double-bed rooms, larger suites and residences make this a stronger family candidate than many romance-first Napa hotels.
Dining: the estate garden leads the story
Signature restaurant
Rosewood describes an earth-to-table menu based on produce harvested from the estate gardens, regional farms and wineries, organic and free-range meats, and sustainably harvested Pacific seafood.
Cocktail and wine bar
The intimate bar is planned around cocktails and a destination-level local wine program. I would expect Calistoga AVA producers to be central, but I would not promise a specific list before the hotel publishes it.
Poolside dining and experiences
A casual poolside restaurant will overlook the vineyards. Cooking workshops, seasonal gatherings and starlit vineyard dinners are also part of the plan.
Opening-period rule: I would verify venue names, operating days, meal periods and whether special experiences are available before building the itinerary around them.
Events and residences
More than 20,000 square feet of planned indoor and outdoor event space makes weddings, retreats and multigenerational gatherings a major part of the concept. Estate Hall and The Arbor bring light-filled ballroom space and landscaped terraces; The Treehouse adds a hearth and wraparound terrace above the vineyard and forest.
The residential collection includes 20 private villas and 13 homesites. Owners are expected to receive resort access and Rosewood Reserve privileges, but the residences will be released in phases and should not be counted as ordinary hotel inventory.
Calistoga and getting there
Calistoga is Napa Valley's hot-springs town, with mud-bath traditions and a compact center along Lincoln Avenue. Tasting rooms, shops, cafes and galleries sit beyond the estate, while Sterling Vineyards, Castello di Amorosa, Larkmead and Frank Family are nearby by car.
Current reporting places downtown about a 15-minute walk away. For SFO, I would plan closer to 2.5 to 3 hours than 90 minutes, especially around Bay Area traffic. Private transfers can be arranged, and I would price one before assuming a rental car is necessary.
Harvest season brings the strongest demand and the least flexibility. Spring is appealing for mustard blooms, green hills and a softer pace. With only 96 hotel rooms, the best vineyard views and larger layouts may tighten quickly once the resort develops a track record.
How Rosewood Calistoga compares
| Property | Choose it for | Main trade-off |
|---|---|---|
| Rosewood Calistoga | Hillside seclusion, downtown access, Asaya and residential design | No guest track record and a high opening price |
| Four Seasons Napa Valley | A proven luxury resort within a working vineyard, plus Auro and Spa Talisa | Less of the walk-to-town and forested-estate combination |
| Solage | Relaxed Calistoga energy, geothermal wellness, bikes and a proven operation | More casual and less private-estate in tone |
| Auberge du Soleil | Classic romance, hillside views, dining and an established reputation | Less suited to families or travelers who want Calistoga on foot |
What I would confirm before booking
| Item | Current information |
|---|---|
| First bookable arrival | April 15, 2027; opening timing remains subject to change |
| Opening rate snapshot | Approximately $2,500 nightly for an Estate Room when checked October 30, 2026, before taxes and fees |
| Standard cancellation shown | Free changes or cancellation until seven days before arrival; after that, the full stay plus tax is charged. Your rate rules control. |
| Residence policy | Published as non-cancellable with full advance deposit |
| Children | Children 17 and under may use existing bedding in a guardian's room without an added charge; confirm occupancy and bedding |
| Still to verify | Taxes, surcharges, parking, pets, check-in, checkout, operating venues and opening-period inclusions |
Rosewood Elite benefits
For an eligible stay, Rosewood Elite benefits may include daily breakfast for two, a resort credit, a welcome amenity, an upgrade, and priority for early check-in or late checkout. Upgrade and timing benefits depend on availability, and I verify the exact package before booking.
I compare the Elite option with Rosewood's public rates and offers, room location, cancellation terms and the opening-period risk. The lowest nightly price is not automatically the best booking when breakfast, credit, flexibility and pre-arrival communication matter.
I never charge planning or booking fees.
I would book Rosewood Calistoga for the rare mix of hillside seclusion, walkable town access and serious wellness.
For most clients, I would compare an Estate Room with a Vineyard View Room first. For a milestone stay, I would look at the vineyard-facing suites or Vintners Lodge. I would still protect the opening period with flexible plans and verify what will operate before tying the rest of Napa to the reservation.
